Sound Level Decibel Converter

Designing audio systems to provide specific sound levels requires the proper audio card output characteristics(voltage, current, and impedence).
(Note that the ear does not detect a 3db power increase as a doubling of amplitude.)
The following tool estimates the audio card characteristics for meeting Sound Pressure Decibel (dbSPL) requirements. It is very importance to make sure that your system has the capacitance to provide power over time.

Don't confuse power with signal clarity. Decibels are determined by waveform shape so frequency does not matter as much as duty cycle. In order to maintain signal clarity, the objective is to match the resistance of each piece of the system (amp, wire, and speaker) to avoid signal reflections.
