    16 March 1997 (Updated 07/12/07)

If your internet browser is unable to load or run java applets, you will may see a blank gray area, a blank area with a red X, or the image below.

Follow the following steps to configure your browser to run applets.

    1. If the browser is displaying a bar requesting permission to run activeX, right click and allow the request. (This may solve the problem.)
    2. Download the latest version of Sun's java virtual machine by clicking here. The FREE JAVA DOWNLOAD button will check your computer and will update or install java as needed.
    3. If java is installed correctly, you may still need to configure java in internet explorer browser. From the internet explorer Tools pulldown, select Internet Options and then select the Security tab. If Java is installed, there will be a Java section in the settings list. Enable the java option. When finished, click OK. (This may solve the problem.)
    4. Configure the JRE via the java console from windows from the start button by opening the control window (Start->Settings->Control Panel). Double click on the java icon in the control panel. When the java console opens, go to the General tab and select the "Use browser settings" proxy checkbox. Also go to the Advanced tab and select all of the checkboxes for "Default Java For Browsers".
